Sehwag congratulates Armed Forces for killing 200 terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir

According to government records, 200 militants have been killed by the security forces during counter-insurgency operations from 1 January till date this year, which is the highest since 2010.

Former Indian Cricket team opening batsman Virender Sehwag on Saturday took to Twitter to congratulate Armed Forces for neutralising 200 terrorists in 2017 in Jammu and Kashmir.

Sehwag in his tweet congratulated the Indian Army and Jammu and Kashmir Police for shooting down 200 terrorists in the north Indian state.

He wrote, “Congratulations to adgpi and J&K Police for the unbeaten double century this year, eliminating 200 terrorists in 2017 alone. Jai Hind ! May there be peace

The Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh on Friday had said, “The security forces have eliminated over 200 terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir this year.”

The Director General of Police (DGP) S P Vaid on Thursday had said that the collective effort of J&K Police, Indian Army, CRPF, BSF and people of Kashmir have led to neutralisation of more than 200 terrorists in 2017 alone.

According to government records, 200 militants have been killed by the security forces during counter-insurgency operations from 1 January till date this year, which is the highest since 2010.

In 2010, 270 militants were killed. However, the number dropped to around 100 per year by the end of 2015. In 2016, 165 militants were gunned down by the security forces along the Line of Control (LoC) and in the hinterland.

Sehwag earlier on December 1, had greeted the BSF jawans on the paramilitary’s raising day. He had then tweeted, “Brave Bordermen guarding the country for 52 years. Greetings to the men standing as first line of defence for the country on the Raising Day. The @BSF_India personnel and their families have served the nation with countless sacrifices.”
