Four-year-old girl suffering from severe malnutrition dies in Maharashtra

A four-year-old girl, falling in the category of severely active malnourished (SAM) succumbed to death in Mokhada tehsil of Palghar district, a senior official said.

"The girl was taken home during Diwali against medical advice from the government-run centre where she was kept under observation for over a week," Abhijeet Bangar, district collector of Palghar told.

Though she was born with normal weight, her parents later went to Nashik in search of job, where she got malnourished.

Her parents had come to Mokhada, where her health deteriorated further and she died, said the official.
