Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday sounded BJP’s poll bugle in Uttar Pradesh for 2019 Lok Sabha elections. Modi chose ‘Maghar’ in Uttar Pradesh's Sant Kabir Nagar to start his party’s elections campaign and broke the superstition attached to the place.

Considered as 'gateway to hell', Maghar is the place where Sant Kabir took his last breath. People believe that anyone who dies in Maghar goes to hell.

However, undeterred from the superstitions of the place, Modi not just started BJP’s Uttar Pradesh poll campaign for upcoming general elections but launched a scathing attack on the Samajwadi Party (SP) and the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) for joining hands to remain relevant in the politics.

In a veiled reference to SP chief Akhilesh Yadav and BSP supremo Mayawati, Modi said that those who had once opposed the Congress for imposing Emergency were now allying with the party, which shows their greed for power.

“Those who used to talks about ‘socialism’ and ‘pluralism’ are now greedy for power. Those who once opposed Emergency came together with those who imposed it,” Modi said addressing a press gathering in Maghar.

Modi said that few political parties want “discord and unrest” in the country instead of development and peace only for political gains.

“Few parties want discord and unrest instead of development and peace in the country. They think that by creating an atmosphere of unrest and discontent, they can gain in politics. But the truth is that such people have disconnected to their roots,” the Prime Minister said.

Earlier, Modi laid the foundation stone of Kabir Academy and visited Sant Kabir's 'Mazar' in Maghar. Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath also accompanied the PM during the visit.
