A tragic incident occurred in Mumbai where a stampede took place on a bridge between Parel and Elphinstone station. Latest reports have claimed that 27 people died whereas more than 30 have been injured.
Medical teams have been rushed to the spot and rescue operations are underway. PM Modi and railway minister Piyush Goyal offered their condolences to the affected people.
The injured people have been brought to KEM hospital where they are undergoing treatment.Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis and railway minister have ordered high-level enquiry into the incident.
Further, the government has also decided to provide 5 lakh each to the families of the deceased. India has witnessed many cases of stampedes where several people lost their lives.
