Senior BJP leader Subramanian Swami on Tuesday called industrialist Gautam Adani the “biggest NPA (Non-Performing Asset) trapeze artiste in PSUs.”

Training his guns on Adani, Swami said that it was time now to hold the businessman accountable or a PIL is inevitable.

“Information came to me that he (Gautam Adani) may be having as much as Rs 72,000 (crores) in NPA,” the BJP leader claimed.

“This will be clear only after investigation. That’s why I raised this question,” Swami added further.

According to Bloomberg data, as of September 2017, Gautam Adani’s company Adani Power had a total debt of Rs 47,609.43 crore, Adani Transmission Rs 8,356.07 crore, Adani Ent Rs 22,424.44 crore and Adani Ports Rs 20.791.15 crore.

Swami’s remarks against Adani has come at a time when Modi government is already facing people’s outrage over the erratic banking sector and alleged PNB bank scam.

The party also shared a video in which PM Modi is purportedly seen calling Mehul Choksi as “Mehul Bhai”.
