New Delhi:

The mother of a girl, who died of hunger because she did not had Aadhaar to get food, said on Tuesday that she went to get rice but was denied ration. She added that her daughter died saying ‘Bhat Bhat.’

The 11-yr-old girl allegedly died of starvation in Simdega in Jharkhand after her family didn't receive ration under PDS due to non-linking of Aadhaar.

Minister in charge of Food and Civil Supplies defended the government's stand over linking of Aadhaar by saying that instructions have already been given that ration shouldn't be denied to those who haven't linked ration card with Aadhaar.

"Clear instructions that ration shouldn't be denied to those who haven't linked ration card with Aadhaar. Will look into this, and will also send a reminder of my orders on distribution of ration," said Minister in-charge of Food and Civil Supplies, Jharkhand.
