New Delhi:

"I will never be able to forgive her from my heart," this is what Prime Minister Narendra Modi had said during an election interview when he was asked respond to BJP’s Bhopal Lok Sabha candidate and terror accused Pragya Singh Thakur’s remarks against Mahatma Gandhi.

During the Lok Sabha election campaign, Thakur had said that Gandhi’s killer Nathuram Godse was a "true patriot" and those calling him a terrorist should look within themselves. The remarks hailing Godse triggered a massive controversy with people and politicians slamming the 2006 Malegaon blast accused for insulting "father of the nation".

The remark was came during the elections and even the BJP had condemned it and distanced itself from Thakur. BJP president Amit Shah had said that such remarks were against the ideology of the saffron party and gave her 10 days time to explain the statement. Shah had said that a disciplinary committee will take necessary action against her.

The notice was given to Pragya on May 17, and it has been 20 days but no action has been taken against her so far. With elections now over, the BJP is not even ready to speak on the issue. According to a report published in The Telegraph, one of the members of the BJP disciplinary committee said that he was unaware of the matter. The media wing of the BJP had said that they too were unaware.

Interestingly, Thakur, who defeated Congress leader Digvijay Singh from Bhopal, was present during the meeting of BJP-led NDA’s newly elected MPs at Central Hall of Parliament on May 25. In the meeting, Modi was elected as the leader of the NDA parliamentary parties. Thakur had walked up to Modi and greeted him.
