Google Doodle pays tribute to noted Urdu author Abdul Qavi Desnavi on 87th birth anniversary

His Important Works Include Writings On Maulana Abul Kalam Azad, Mirza Ghalib, And Allama Muhammad Iqbal.

The Google Doodle on Wednesday portrays a senior writer at work with Urdu script in the backdrop. 

It is Google’s tribute to Abdul Qavi Desnavi, the Indian Urdu language writer, critic, bibliographer, and linguist on the occasion of his 87th birthday. 

Born on November 1, 1930, Desnavi wrote many books on Urdu literature. His important works include writings on Maulana Abul Kalam Azad, Mirza Ghalib, and Allama Muhammad Iqbal. 

Desnavi was born in Bihar’s Desna village and played an important role in the evolution of Urdu literature in India. 

In a career spanning over five decades, Desnavi authored a vast number of Urdu texts, including fiction, biographies, poetry, and anthologies. His prominent works include ‘Sat Tahriren,’ ‘Motala-E-Khotoot Ghalib,’ ‘Talash-E-Azad,’ and ‘Hayat-e-Abul Kalam Azad,’ which celebrated the life of Maulana Abul Kalam Azad.

Desnavi retired as the head of the Urdu department in Bhopal’s Saifia Post Graduate college in 1990. Many famous poets and academicians have been his disciples, including Javed Akhtar.

He died on July 7, 2011.
