Gorakhpur children deaths: DM report holds college principal, oxygen supplier responsible

Baba Raghav Das Medical College Principal, head of department of anesthesia and liquid oxygen supply company have been held responsible for the death of at least 60 children at the government hospital in Yogi Adityanath’s home constituency Gorakhpur in a report submitted to the UP CM on Wednesday.

The report was submitted by Gorakhpur district magistrate Rejeev Rautela.

Rautela and his team investigating the death of children in the BRD Hospital in his report has reported that the incident occurred due to negligence in duty and disruption of oxygen.

According to the report oxygen supplier firm Pushpa Sales Private Limited had stopped supplying oxygen cylinders to the government hospital leading to the disruption of oxygen.

The report also says that Dr. Satish, Anesthesia head of department and in-charge of  oxygen supply, was absenting from his duty without any written information on August 11. The investigating team has found Dr. Satish guilty for not not taking timely action.

The investigating team has also reported to the CM that coordination between doctors of various department was found to be missing in the hospital.
