A 11-year-old boy upset over punishment given by a teacher allegedly committed suicide in Gorakhpur after consuming poison.
The minor, Navneet Prakash, a class five student of St Anthony’s Convent School at Shahpur at left behind a suicide note requesting his teacher ‘not to punish students severely.’
The boy’s father, Navneet Prakash, in a complaint lodged with the police claimed that the school harassed his son by punishing him.
The Gorakhpur police have registered a case against the school management and principal of the school after a complaint was lodged by the police.
The police have registered a case of abetment of suicide against the school management and principal.
SSP Satyarth Anirudh Pankaj said, "We are waiting for the postmortem report."
Uttar Pradesh police said, the father in his complaint has mentioned that on September 15 his son seemed upset. On enquiring, the boy told his father that his teacher made him stand on the bench for quite long and mentally harassed him.
The police official added that in the evening the minor consumed rat poison. He was rushed to BRD Medical College and Hospital, where the boy succumbed during treatment.
Prakash has alleged that the school is responsible for the death of his son.
