West Bengal Police launches massive manhunt to nab Gorkha Janmukhti chief Bimal Gurung as indefinite shutdown entered 81st day in hill area on Sunday.
The West Bengal Police had launched a combing operation in the Darjeeling hills and its adjoining areas to nab Gurung.
Gurung is wanted by the West Bengal Police after a lookout notice has been issued against him in various cases including bomb blast in Kalimpong police station in which a civic volunteer was killed and also for the cases booked under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA).
While security personnel are engaged in manhunt operation nab Gurung, pro-Gorkhaland supporters to force in their demands continue with their indefinite shutdown.
On Sunday several rallies were taken out by pro-Gorkhaland supporters in Darjeeling, Kurseong, Sonada and Kalimpong. GJM supporters seeking more support in the hill region distributed leaflets and pasted posters in support of the shutdown.
GJM convenor Binay Tamang was expelled from the party on Friday in context to the suspension order of the indefinite shutdown issued by him on September 12.
