The government will enact a law, if necessary, to curb the incidents of lynching, Home Minister Rajnath Singh told the House on Tuesday as the Opposition voiced against the rising cases of lynching.
Following the increasing incidents of lynching, the government has taken the issue seriously and would consider stringent action against the culprits, Singh said.
On Monday, the Home Ministry said it would set up two high-level committees to suggest ways and a legal framework to effectively deal with mob violence and lynching incidents.
The committees were formed soon after the Supreme Court asked the Centre to enact a law to deal with lynching incidents and take action on mob violence.
