Government extends service of Economic Affairs Secretary Shaktikanta Das by 3 months

Appointment Committee of the Cabinet on Monday extends service of Economic Affairs Secretary Shaktikanta Das for 3 months till 31 May 2017. Appointments Committee of the Cabinet also extends service of Foreign Secretary S Jaishankar for 1 year till 28 Jan 2018.

Shaktikanta Das, a 1980 batch Tamilnadu cadre IAS officer who is originally from Bhubaneswar, was also in contention for the post of Securities and Exchange Board of India (Sebi) chief after completion of UK Sinha's second innings.

S Jaishankar was appointed Foreign Secretary on January 29, 2015, a couple of days before his retirement.
