Stressing on the importance of gram sabha in the developmental process, Union Minister M Venkaiah Naidu today said it defines the future of villages and should not be considered inferior to Lok Sabha.
“The Panchayati Raj system! The importance that is there in the country for Lok Sabha, it should be the same for Gram Sabha as well.
“The Gram Sabha should not be considered to be inferior to the Lok Sabha. If Lok Sabha defines the future of the nation, Gram Sabha is local sabha that defines the future of the village,” he said in a series of tweets.
The Minister also posted photographs of him at a public meeting at Vengalamma Cheruvu, where he addressed the people on the occasion of National Panchayati Raj Day.
He also advocated a fully functional, responsive grass-roots level system of self-governance for an effective democracy.
“PM Narendra Modi firmly believes that the three Ds Decentralisation, Devolution and Development go hand-in-hand,” he said in another tweet.
