A manager at Bihar Kshetriya Grameen Bank was kidnapped by unidentified men when he was returning home from office in Bihar’s Sheikhpura district, the police said on Friday.
The incident took place when 30-year-old Jaivardhan, posted as a bank manager at the Kasaar village branch, was returning home on his bike at Mohanpur Baawan Khandha in Nalanda district on Thursday, Superintendent of Police Daya Shankar said.
The police added that Jaivardhan used to commute the distance every day. The police are trying to rescue him.
Kidnapping cases are nothing new in Bihar. A report by The Indian Express earlier this year, citing the police data, claimed that more than 40% of kidnappings in Bihar till November 2017 were for marriage.
Till November, 2017, number of such cases were 3,419 out of 8,336 cases of kidnapping. The number of such cases was 3,075 out of 7,294 kidnapping cases in 2016, 3,001 out of 7,127 cases in 2015, according to data on state police website.
