Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday saved the life of of a DD cameraperson during the inauguration of a huge water project in his home state of Gujarat, said Deputy Chief Minister of Gujarat Nitin Patel.
Mr Patel said that the Prime Minister was examining the landscape in Jamnagar in the West part of the state after he pushed a button to release water from the dam.
"He suddenly noticed that a camera person standing on the downstream side. The strong flow of water released a little while ago was racing towards them and could have washed them away," said Mr Patel at a function, according to a news agency.
Busy taking photographs of the event, the cameraman was allegedly unaware of the potential danger.

By clapping his hands and with other gestures the Prime Minister alerted him, said the leader from his party, the BJP.
"If the PM had not alerted, a big mishap could have happened," he claimed.
