After missing the cut in high stake Gujarat Assembly elections, Congress party will hold a three-day introspection meet starting from Wednesday, said AICC General Secretary Ashok Gehlot.

“We are going to organise a review meeting from Tomorrow (Wednesday). The meeting will be attended by all the district president, party candidates and leaders, Ashok Gehlot, Congress’s election in-charge in Gujarat told News Nation.

Gehlot said Congress President Rahul Gandhi may also attend the meeting that will be organised from December 20 to December 22.

Rahul Gandhi-led Congress put up a strong fight in the high-stake assembly elections in Modi's home state Gujarat and restricted the BJP below hundred mark.

The Congress won 77, up by 16 seats at the end of counting of votes in the Gujarat assembly elections.

Opinion: Gujarat election results showed PM Modi is vulnerable, Rahul Gandhi will have to learn to win

However, the BJP managed to cross halfway mark by winning 99 seats but its tally came down from 115 it won in 2012, and far lower than the 150-plus seats it had hoped for.

After the Gujarat results, Ashok Gehlot had said the way party fought in Gujarat shows the reverse countdown for Modi has begun.

Newly elected Congress President Rahul Gandhi also expressed satisfaction over the party’s performance in BJP’s bastion.

Rahul said, the Gujarat verdict was a ‘moral victory’ for Congress and stated that it sends a message to PM Modi and BJP that "Your anger will not work for you, you can be defeated by love."
