The Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) has expressed deep concerns over growing casteism in the country, stressing on the need to promote social harmony.Â
The Sangh said casteism was a huge threat to the very essence of nationalism and society.Â
The RSS held a two-day meeting, Samnvaya Baithak, in Jodhpur on the importance of social harmony and family values.Â
The meeting was attended by state ministers, including Arun Chaturvedi, Gulab Chand Kataria, Vasudev Devnanai, and BJP leaders Satish Punia, and Ashok Parnami.
Talking about the discussions held in the meeting, BJP state president Ashok Parnami said the RSS was of the opinion that casteism was growing dangerously.
"Casteism has emerged as a major threat to the Indian social fabric and the Gujarat elections have seen the issue acquiring threatening proportions. So with growing concerns, the RSS has taken a serious note of the issue and committed to promoting social harmony," Parnami said.
