In a heart-wrenching incident, at least 9 newborn babies died at a civil hospital in Ahmedabad, Gujarat since Friday midnight, news agency ANI reported.
Out of the 9 deaths, 5 were referred to the hospital with critical conditions, 3 born at hospital had severe birth asphyxia and 1 had meconium aspiration syndrome, the agency further said.
The hospital authorities have confirmed the deaths of the newborn babies.
In order to avoid any mishappening, the police force has been deployed outside the hospital.
In a similar incident, over 60 children including newborn babies died at Baba Raghav Das Medical College hospital in Gorakhpur, Uttar Pradesh due to oxygen disruption over non-payments of dues in August this year.
