What is Guru Purnima?
Guru Purnima is celebrated by Hindus, Buddhists and Jains alike in India and Nepal to honour their chosen spiritual teachers and express gratitude towards them for enlightening their life.
The festival is celebrated with full fervour on the day of fool moon or Purnima in the Hindu month of Ashadha (June-July). On this day, celebrations are marked by spiritualistic activities known as ‘Guru Pooja’ in honour of the Guru.
