The annual 10-day sojourn of Lord Jagannath, Balabhadra and Subhadra--the presiding deities of the famous 12th century temple in Odisha's Puri--begins Thursday. The Rath Yatra or Chariot festival marks the day when the dieties are taken out of the Jagannath Temple's sanctum and installed in wooden chariots, that will be pulled by millions of pilgrims who throng the coastal city every year. The three massive chariots, modeled in the shape of temples, also offer a glimpse of the traditional art and culture of the eastern Indian state.
The chariots for Lord Jagannath, Balabhadra, and younger sister Subhadra are named Nandighosha, Taladhwaja and Darpadalana respectively. These three chariots are pulled all the way from the Jagannath temple to Devi Gundicha temple, situated 3 kilometres away. The yatra concludes ten days later when the deities return to the temple.
On this occasion, here are some Lord Jagannath wishes that you can send to your friends and relatives
