Senior BJP MLA Harbans Kapoor was on Monday sworn-in as the Protem Speaker of the Uttarakhand Assembly.
Kapoor was administered the oath of office by Governor K K Paul at the Raj Bhawan here. The swearing-in ceremony was attended by Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat and his ministerial colleagues.
Kapoor is the senior most member of the Assembly, having won from the Dehradun cantonment seat for a record eight times in a row.
As the Protem Speaker, he will now administer the oath of office to the rest of the newly-elected MLAs.

He had earlier served as the Speaker of the Assembly during the BJP rule from 2007-2012.
