New Delhi:

Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar has landed himself in a fresh trouble with his "sexist" remark that people of Haryana are saying that now they "can bring brides from Kashmir", apparently in a reference to the recent scrapping of the special status for Jammu and Kashmir under Article 370.

"There can be problems if the number of girls are lesser than boys. Our (OP) Dhankarji had said that they (brides) will have to be brought from Bihar. Now some people say, Kashmir is open, they (brides) will be brought from there. But jokes apart, the question is if (sex) ratio is right, then there will be a right balance in society," Khattar said at an event at Fatehabad on Friday.

The Haryana chief minister was slammed for his remark even by the leaders who supported the central government's move to strip Kashmir of its special status under the constitutional provision. Soon, people and politicians started schooling Khattar. Congress leader Rahul Gandhi said that Haryana CM's comment on Kashmiri women was despicable and "called him a "pathetic man".

"Haryana CM, Khattar's comment on Kashmiri women is despicable and shows what years of RSS training does to the mind of a weak, insecure and pathetic man. Women are not assets to be owned by men," Rahul Gandhi said.

Poet and former AAP leader Kumar vishwas, who strongly supported government's move on Kashmir, said, "In your state, you will allow female foeticide and honour killings and bring sisters from Kashmir. If not the daughters of the country, atl least consider your post and age. With such stupidity, you want to win the faith of suspecious brothers and sisters of Kashmir?"

Delhi Women's Commission chairperson Swati Maliwal took strong exception to the mysogynist acts and statements by several BJP leaders and strongly recommended an FIR against Khattar and another BJP leader Vijay Goel. After the removal of special status, Goel had reportedly put out a poster of a Kashmiri girl at him residence.

"Khattar should be ashamed of his rubbished statement. Chief Minister is speaking the language of a road-side Romio! Women are merely objects for them! PM is trying to make people of Kashmiri believe that entire nation is with them, While this unworth CM is trying to instigate violence with such filthy talks. An FIR should be filed against him,"the Delhi NCW chief said.
