Haryana DGP BS Sandhu on Saturday addressed press conference on current law and order situation in the state after conviction of Dera Sacha Sauda chief Ram Rahim Singh in a molestation case. The DGP claimed that 36 people died and 269 got injured in violence.
“There are about 3000-4000 people at Dera Sacha Sauda, Sirsa and they are vacating gradually. 34 cases registered so far by Haryana police in the entire process. 552 people arrested, investigation is underway,” said Sandhu.
On the current law and order situation in state, Sandhu said that there is absolute peace in the state as no incident reported in last 24 hours.
Speaking on the hearing for quantum of sentence of Ram Rahim Singh, Sandhu said that court will be in Sonaria jail, Rohtak and arrangements are being made. He added that no person will be allowed around Sonaria jail and he has made adequate arrangements for the same.
“24 vehicles impounded by police in Panchkula. 5 pistols (79 rounds), 2 rifles (52 rounds), AK 47, iron rods, hockey sticks also recovered. Weapons, petrol bombs also recovered in Panchkula. Three petrol bombs and cans seized in Karnal,” said Sandhu.
Sandhu said that process is underway to sanitize Dera, to see that there are no weapons or any such thing present.
