Himachal elections: Congress manifesto out, interest-free farm loans, 1 lakh jobs key promises

The Congress party on Wednesday released its election manifesto for upcoming Himachal Pradesh assembly polls.

In its manifesto, the Congress has promised to give interest-free loans to farmers and will distribute free laptops to students who shall perform well in the exams.

In an attempt to woo the farmers, the party has promised 90% subsidy on seeds, fertilizer, insecticides, farming equipment, ground fencing & rain water harvesting.

The party has also tried to woo the government employees and said it will resume old pension scheme for those who were recruited after 2003. The party has also promised to regularize contract workers.   

Congress, who will once again fight the Himachal Pradesh assembly elections under its four-time Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh promised an all-round development of the state.

Releasing the manifesto in Shimla, the 83-year-old current Virbhadra Singh said, if elected back to power, his government will provide jobs to 1 lakh youths.

The party, which is also currently ruling the state, promised to increase the minimum wage of daily labourers in the state to Rs 350 per day.

The Himachal Pradesh assembly elections will be held on November 9 and the results will be declared on December 18.

Earlier on Sunday, Finance Minister Arun Jaitley had released BJP’s vision document and promised to fight crime against women.
