New Delhi:

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday expressed grief over the Hirakhand Train tragedy, in which at least 32 people have been killed while several other are injured.

Eight coaches of Jagdalpur-Bhubaneswar Hirakhand Express derailed at Kuneru station in Andhra Pradesh at around 11Pm on Saturday. Rescue operations are on and a probe has been ordered.

“My thoughts are with those who lost their loved ones due to the derailment of Jagdalpur-Bhubaneswar Express. The tragedy is saddening,” PM Modi tweeted on Sunday.

The prime minister prayed ‘for a speedy recovery of all those injured due to the train accident’.

“The Railway Ministry is monitoring the situation very closely and is working to ensure quick rescue and relief operations,” he assured via twitter.

The Indian Railways suspects foul play in the accident. An official source informed media that it is possible that tampering of the track near Kuneru station led to the derailment of eight coaches of Jagdalpur-Bhubaneswar Express.
