Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mahbooba Mufti on Saturday said that the state government can consider giving security cover to separatist leaders if they ask for it in wake of latest threats by Hizbul Mujahideen.
"Will consider giving security if anyone asks for it," said Mehbooba Mufti during an event in Srinagar on Saturday.
A top Hizbul leader Zakir Musa had on Friday threatened to behead Hurriyat leaders if they tried to term the demands of a separate Kashmir as a political struggle.
The threats were made through a video clip, which has gone viral on social media. Since, Hizbul Mujahideen has distanced itself from the threats against separatist leaders.
Speaking at the Youth Exchange Programme in Srinagar, Muffti slammed media houses for focussing on the unrest and ignoring development in the case of Kashmir.
"If a kid pelts stone, holds the flag, electronic media discusses that 24*7, but they don't talk about you trying to change the picture of J&K," CM Mufti told youth in attendance.
