A huge cache of arms and ammunition was recovered by the police on Sunday after an encounter with Naxalites in the jungles of Anandpur police outpost area in Banka district, Bihar.
A hand grenade, one 9 mm pistol, one revolver, three country made pistols, one magazine of SLR rifle, two magazines of pistols and 169 cartridges were recovered from the site, Superintendent of Police Rajiv Ranjan said.
Besides, there were Naxalite literature, clothes and other items of daily use. Acting on a tip off that Naxalites were hiding in the jungles, the police raided the spot ensuring an encounter, Ranjan said.
Around 50 rounds were fired from both sides during the 30-minute encounter that took place early in the morning.

However, there was no report of any casualty or injury from the Naxalite side and they managed to escape taking advantage of the dense forest, the SP said.
