New Delhi:

Hurriyat Conference leader spokesperson  Syed Ali Shah Geelani on Sunday said that Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh’s remark suggesting Vallabhbhai Patel was not allowed to act freely to solve Kashmir issue was an “admission” that Kashmir was not part of India.

He added Singh's remark was an "admission that Kashmir is not part of India".

Shah further said that Kashmir "continues to be a dispute" and India itself took it to the United Nations.

The Hurriyat Conference spokesperson further said, “Tell your people that Kashmir has never annexed with Indian union.”

Singh addressing a political gathering in Gujarat on Saturday had said that Patel, India’s first deputy prime minister had been allowed to act freely by then prime minister Jawaharlal Nehru, India would not have been facing Kashmir issue today.

The Union Home Minister had said, “Had Jawahar Lal Nehru asked Sardar Vallabhai Patel to decide the fortune of Kashmir, the Kashmir issue and even PoK would not have been there."

However, Singh assured the situation of Kashmir will soon be better and "no power can stop India from resolving the Kashmir issue". He also lambasted Paksitan for its "imptious" activities against India.
