New Delhi:
A girl who had just passed the Class 10 exams was set ablaze on Tuesday by her classmate in Hyderabad.
The shocking incident happened after the boy allegedly came to know about her engagement with another man. Both the accused and the girl are minors.
The accused is girl’s classmate and recently passed the class 10 boards examinations.
Reportedly, the girl had earlier refused marriage following a proposal from the boy. Later the girl’s mother had got her engaged with someone else.
The accused reportedly went to her house and bashed her. Seeing her alone at that time, the boy poured kerosene over her and left her in flames.
The neighbours came in rushing after hearing her loud screams and poured water on her. She was rushed to a nearby hospital, sources said.
The victim has received about 72 per cent burn injuries and is severe. Police have registered a case and are looking for the assailant.
