Hyderabad man and his wife  performed ‘human sacrifice’ of a 3-month-old baby to in Uppal area earlier this month, police said on Thursday.

Police have arrested the man and his wife for murdering the infant girl. The arrested have been identified K Rajashekar, 40, and his wife Kshudra Pooja, 35.

Police said, the duo accused have accepted their crime. During questioning Rajashekar told the investigators of the case that he was suggested to perform human sacrifice for his wife long life. "He told us that his wife is suffering from prolong disease from the last four years," said police.

“He was advised by person to perform black magic and sacrifice a girl child to ward of evil spirits, a reason given for his wife's chronic disease,” said Hyderabad Police.

The murder had come to surface on February 1 when the child’s severed head was found at the accused’s house’s rooftop.

During the course of investigation, police have learnt that the Rajasekhar and his wife killed the child and performed black magic rituals in their room and places the head on the rooftop facing south-west direction.  

A officer of Hyderabad Police added that forensic reports confirm that blood found in the couple’s room and the head’s DNA profile is same.
