Samajwadi Party leader Azam Khan on Thursday said that he has become an “item girl” for the Bharatiya Janata Party. The leader said that the saffron party contests an election be keeping him in focus.
Azam’s comment comes after the BJP hit out at the leader for his insolent comment on Indian Army personnel.
The Samajwadi Party leader said his statement was misconstrued by media. “How can Army’s morale fall because of me,” he questioned. He said he is no one and Army's morale fell when Prime Minister Narendra Modi had visited Pakistan.

On Wednesday, Khan had kicked up a storm again by passing remarks against Indian Army. The Bharatiya Janata Party had urged the SP to "sack" him.

Addressing party activists in Rampur , the SP national general secretary had referred to "shameful violent happenings" in places such as Kashmir, Tripura, Jharkhand and Bengal.
Khan had said excesses by security forces had led to "women in some places chopping off the private parts of Army men".
The BJP had hit out at the SP leader, demanding that his party "sack" him for seeking to "divide the country" on religious lines.

"It has become a fashion in the country to demean the Indian Army in the name of freedom of speech and expression," BJP spokesperson Sambit Patra had said, attacking the SP, Congress and the Left for "making statements against the Army".
