An open war broke out on Tuesday within the Samajwadi Party (SP) with UP chief minister Akhilesh Yadav stripping his uncle Shivpal Yadav of key ministerial portfolios, hours after his removal as the party’s state unit chief and appointment of the latter in his place.

On Wednesday, Shivpal Yadav met elder brother and party supremo Mulayam Singh Yadav at the latter's official residence in New Delhi.
After meeting his brother Shivpal said, "Neither I nor Netaji (Mulayam) is angry. We all are happy... There are no differences."
According to sources, Shivpal said in the meeting he gave examples of how as a senior minister in the Akhilesh government, he never publicly opposed the decisions taken by Akhilesh or Mulayam even though he may have expressed difference of opinion to them in private.
"The decision on Cabinet portfolios are the discretion of the chief minister," Shivpal told mediapersons outside.
While talking to media persons, Shivpal siad, "Netaji has decided to appoint me as the party's state unit chief. My role is to bring back SP to power in next polls 2017."

Shivpal denied rumour of his stepping down from the post. "I will fulfil my responsibility...I will not resign...I am still part of the cabinet," he said.
