Won’t compromise with people dividing society, says Bihar CM Nitish Kumar

Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar indirectly rebuking BJP on Monday said that he will not compromise with people spreading communal tensions in the state.

In a veiled reference to the controversy that erupted after Union Minister Giriraj Singh's remark on RJD’s victory in Bihar bypolls, Nitish said, "Please remember, neither did I compromise with corruption, nor I will compromise with those trying to divide the society.”

“I am for complete communal and social peace... I want to make it clear that this country will march ahead on the basis of love, compassion and communal harmony," NDTV quoted Kumar as saying.

Singh’s statements triggered a massive controversy with the Opposition Parties Congress and RJD protesting against the minister in state assembly.

The Bihar CM also supported Union Minister and LJP chief Ram Vilas Paswan, who advised ally BJP to “change mass perception among Dalits and minorities".

"I know Paswan very well and without applying his mind he won't speak on these issues," he added.
