IAF's Sukhoi aircraft crashes in Maharashtra's Nashik, pilots eject safely

Indian Air Force’s Sukhoi aircraft crashed in Maharashtra’s Nashik on Wednesday. There were no causalities in the crash as both the pilots ejected timely, said police.

The under-production Sukhoi Su-30MKI twinjet multirole air superiority fighter of Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) crashed at Wavi-Tushi village near Pimpalgaon Baswant town in Nashik.

According to a police official, quoted by PTI, the aircraft crashed at 11.05 am. Within minutes, the Pimpalgaon police station received information about the crash.

The aircraft, developed by Russia’s Sukhoi and built under license by the Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL), had taken off from the HAL airstrip near Nashik, police said.

On hearing the news of the crash, an IAF personnel at Ojhar Air Force station rushed to the spot. An investigation will be carried out to know the reasons behind the crash.
