After voicing his revolt against V K Sasikala, Chief Minister O Panneerselvam on Wednesday said that he will withdraw his resignation, if required, and said his strength will come to be known in the state Assembly.
Selvam was sacked as AIADMK Treasurer by Sasikala last night following his outburst against her. Insisting that Sasikala was made General Secretary of the party under extraordinary circumstances following Jayalalithaa's death, he said that elections will be held soon to elect the permanent general secretary.
“If required, I will withdraw my resignation,” said Panneerselvam, who was flanked by Pandian, party's Rajya Sabha MP Maithreyan and others including VC Aarukutty.
Selvam also made it known that could not meet Jayalalithaa even once during her 75 days of hospitalisation. He said that he would recommend an inquiry commission under a sitting Supreme Court judge to probe the doubts surrounding the health condition and demise of the late leader.
Dismissing Sasikala’s charge that DMK was behind his revolt against the party leadership, Pannerselvam made it clear that she has no powers to sack him as Treasurer.

“She should be asked to explain the basis of her charge. I was never cordial with DMK. A look back into the history will make it clear,” he said.
“There is no relationship at all between me and the DMK. Its only the human approach to reciprocate when some one smiles at you. That is the difference between animals and humans,” he said.
