22-year-old IIT Hyderabad student falls to death from hostel building

A 22-year-old engineering student of Indian Institute of Technology, Hyderabad (IIT-H) fell to death from his hostel building. The student died on the spot after allegedly falling from the building of his seven-storey hostel on Friday.

Identified as M Anirudhya, the deceased was a fourth-year student of mechanical and aerospace engineering from the Indian Institute of Hyderabad located at Kandi village of Telangana.  

“Initially, it was suspected to be a case of suicide, but visuals from the closed circuit television cameras showed that he slipped and fell down from the terrace while speaking on his phone. He died instantly due to multiple injuries,” Sangareddy (rural) sub-inspector of police, Srikanth, was quoted as saying by a report in Hindustan Times.

The deceased went to the terrace at 12.45 am to talk to a friend on the phone when he fell and died instantly,

The sub-inspector stated that it was discovered that Anirudhya used to go to the terrace to read books on his mobile phone and for talking on the phone as well.

The police handed over the body to his family after the autopsy was conducted at the Sangareddy government hospital. The only son to his parents, Anirudhya's sudden death has left his parents depressed and taken aback.
