The Indian Medical Association on Friday decided to discontinue Maharashtra resident doctors’ strike after meeting with Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis.
Earlier in the day, the Bombay high court reprimanded the Maharashtra Association of Resident Doctors’ (MARD) for not complying the high court orders and resuming duties.
The high court directed MARD to file an affidavit by 3 pm stating that they have no objection if the government takes action against resident doctors on strike.
The high court also warned the resident doctors, saying that if they do not file an affidavit by 3 pm, the high court would initiate contempt proceedings against MARD President & Secretary.

The counsel representing Maharashtra government brought to the notice of the high court, informing that 38 patients died on Thursday in Sion hospital.
