A fatwa issued on Sunday by the Imarat-E-Shariya,Patna, has expelled Bihar Minister Khurshid Alam from Islam and derecognised his marriage for chanting ‘Jai Shri Ram’ in an interview to media after the floor test on Friday.
Imarat-E-Shariya in a written statement has declared that the Bihar Minister has been outcasted from Islam for chanting ‘Jai Shri Ram’.
The fatwa written in Urdu further states that the Shariya does not recognise the minister’s marriage and terms it illegal.
According to the fatwa, the minister’s marriage will not be recognised by the Sharia unless and until he in public asks forgiveness.

Alam on Friday after the flow test targeting the RJD members mocking JD (U)’s alliance with BJP had told News Nation, “RJD members who are saying that JD (U) has collaborated with BJP and are sitting on Ram’s lap should know I also chant Jai Shri Ram.”
He further said, “God is one and there is no harm in saying Jai Shri Ram.”
Alam talking to News Nation after the issue of fatwa talking to News Nation said, “I respect the Imarat-E-Shariya. They should have asked me about my intentions prior releasing the fatwa.”
He added, “Why should I be scared. God knows with what intention I raised the slogan ‘Jai Shri Ram’ and my work will tell who I am.”
He added that he will continue saying ‘Jai Shri Ram’ for the people of Bihar and for the development and harmony in the state.
