Shortly after the video of the incident went viral, Union Minister KJ Alphons, clarifying his stand, said that apart from the Prime Minister and the President, there is no protocol for any minister that requires the flights to be delayed or cancelled.

“She (woman in video) had to talk to someone. It is fine with me if she vented her anger on me,” said Alphons.

He further said that he did not see any controversy at all in the entire incident. “I saw this lady in distress and went up to talk to her. She said she has to attend a funeral in Patna and I told her that no flight can land or take off when the President is landing and this protocol has to be followed,” added Alphons.

Airport Director, Imphal said on Tuesday no scheduled flight was diverted or cancelled but three scheduled flights were delayed by around 2 hours due to the flight movement of the President of India.

A woman doctor on Wednesday had lashed out at Union Minister KJ Alphons Kannanthanam at Imphal Airport as her flight got delayed due to the VVIP arrival schedule.
