India strongly condemned the terrorist strike on the German Consulate in Mazar-e-Sharif on Saturday while claiming that the attack is a grim reminder of the serious threat that terrorism poses to the region and to humanity.

It also called on the international community to take concerted and strong action to fight this scourge, inter alia, by denying all support, sanctuaries and safe havens to all terrorists.

"We extend our deepest condolences to the bereaved families and wish speedy recovery to those injured. India lauds the courage of the security forces that successfully thwarted the attack and saved many lives," the External Affairs Ministry said.

India strongly opposes terrorism in all its forms and manifestations and stands in solidarity with the Government and people of Afghanistan and with Germany.

"The attack in Mazar-e-Sharif is a grim reminder of the serious and grave threat that terrorism poses to our region and to humanity. A huge suicide car bomb struck the German consulate in the northern Afghan city of Mazar-i-Sharif on November 10, killing at least one person and wounding 29 others, in an attack claimed by Taliban insurgents.
