PM Modi Pays Tribute To Mahatma Gandhi At Rajghat

India is remembering Father of the Nation Mahatma Gandhi on his 150th birth anniversary on Wednesday. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will declare India open defecation free to mark the sesquicentennial year of Gandhi's birth anniversary. On Gandhi Jayanti, PM Modi will also visit the Sabarmati Ashram in Ahmedabad while several other events will be organised in Gujarat, the home state of Gandhi and other parts of the country. PM Modi is also scheduled to announce a ban on single-use plastic on October 2 in an attempt to make sure that India is devoid of single-use plastic by 2022. Read more…

Helena Kennedy, a British lawyer assisting the UN probe into Khashoggi’s death, said recordings she had heard from inside the kingdom’s mission in Turkey referred to the Saudi critic as a “sacrificial animal.” Turkey handed over 45 minutes of recordings to the United Nations in order for them to investigate the incident. There was no change in petrol and diesel prices on Wednesday, October 2. State-run oil marketing companies did not change rates on Gandhi Jayanti. On Tuesday, petrol rate had increased by 13-14 paise while diesel rate increased by 10 to 11 paise in India. The rate of petrol and diesel have increased heavily since September 17 following attacks on Saudi Arabian crude oil facilities. Read more…
