The Strategic Forces Command (SFC) of the Indian Army test fired Agni II medium-range nuclear-capable missile from APJ Abdul Kalam island off the Odisha coast. The missile has a strike range of more than 2,000 km.
India had earlier successfully test-fired its short-range nuclear capable ballistic missile Agni-1 with a strike range of over 700 km from a test range off the Odisha coast, Defence sources said.
The indigenous developed surface-to-surface missile was launched as a part of a periodic training activity by the Strategic Forces Command (SFC) of the Army to consolidate operational readiness, they said.
