In a one-of-its-kind initiative, the Indian Railways has introduced a unique method through which a person can get a free platform ticket. What authorities are calling an initiative to promote Modi government’s 'Fit India' campaign, the railway ministry on Friday installed 'Squat Kiosk' at Anand Vihar Railway Station wherein free platform tickets would be given to those who performs 30 squats in 3 minutes.
"It is an initiative to promote 'Fit India' campaign. We have programmed the machine in a manner that if you do 30 squats in 3 minutes, you will get as an incentive a free platform ticket," SK Lohia, MD, Indian Railway Stations Development Corporation Limited said.

Railway minister Piyush Goyal took to Twitter and hailed the initiative. Goyal wrote, "Exercise & Get Free Platform Ticket: Indian Railways has embarked on a novel initiative to encourage fitness at Anand Vihar Railway Station in Delhi. Platform tickets will be given free of charge to those who exercise using the 'Squat Kiosk' installed."

According to the reports, the machine is inspired by similar machines installed in Moscow. Ahead of winter Olympics in Sochi in 2013, such machines were installed at Vystavochaya station of Moscow subway system.

The machines dispensed free tickets for metro rides if 30 squats are done in front of them in 2 minutes.
