At a time when the country is reeling under the ailing railway tracks which has caused several accidents in the past few months, the Mumbai bound Dharbhanga - Lokmanya Tilak express was made to run for 350 km without brakes.
The train that carried around 2000 passengers had 19 out of it's 21 coaches oute of brakes. Whats more shocking is, the same train on it's return journey on Thursday also faced the similar issue of failled brakes in the coaches.
According to sources the Central Railway conducted a preliminary maintenance once the train reached Mumbai's Lokmanya Tilak Terminus. In its return journey on Thursday the same problem of failled brakes popped up again at Kalyan, where the train was halted.
On September 13, Railway Board member R L Gupta wrote a letter to chief mechanical engineer of East Central Railway in Hajipur and alerted him about the lack of power in the coach brakes of Darbhanga- Lokmanya Tilak express.
The information of any such letter was straightaway denied by the chief PR Rajesh Kumar of Northern Central Railway.
