SIMI leader Safdar Nagori, 11 other accused sentenced to life imprisonment by Indore District court

The court pronounced the decision on charges of hate speech, conducting training camps, and for promoting anti-national literature against Nagori.

Convicted on the charges of treason, Students Islamic Movement of India (SIMI) leader Safdar Nagori has been awarded life imprisonment along with 11 other accused by the Indore district court.

The court pronounced the decision on charges of hate speech, conducting training camps, and for promoting anti-national literature against Nagori.

All the accused have been found guilty of the charge of treason under IPC’s section 124A.Keeping in mind security, the district court has been heavily deployed with police forces.

According to District Public Prosecutor, Vimal Mishra, another accused, Manuroj, who is out on bail has also been taken into custody.

On 26 March 2008, Police had arrested 11 SIMI militants with heavy arms and ammunition. When Police searched their residences, anti-national materials along with objectionable CDs and anti-national literature were seized. For the same, the court has awarded life imprisonment to all the 11 accused.
