Indian Police Service (IPS) probationary officer who dreamt of becoming a bureaucrat used darknet and google drive to cheat the UPSC mains examination.
The usage of darknet — an overlay network which can be accessed by specific authorisation and software — surfaced up after the probationary officer and Tirunelveli assistant superintendent of police (ASP) Safeer Karim was arrested red handed on Monday by the Union Public Service Commission squad.
The police also said that hi-tech gadgets like computers, laptops and ipads were used in the cheating. Union Public Service Commission squad had recovered a micro camera mounted on his shirt, a bluetooth device and a mobile phone from his possession.
During questioning the probationary IPS officer told the police that camera was connected live with google drive. The digital copy of the UPSC exam question paper was being transmitted to his wife, Joicy Joyce, in Hyderabad via darknet.
Police further informed that his wife with help of Dr P Rambabu, director of La Excellence IAS Study Circle at Ashoknagar in Hyderabad, would solve the questions and relate him over the phone. Karim would hear to the answers over a micro-bluetooth device.
