An IPS officer, who was caught cheating with the help of wife during UPSC mains examination, may be axed from job if he fails to explain his conduct.
Such a person is not fit to be in a service like IPS and action such as dismissal from the service may be initiated once a report from the state government is received, a home ministry official said.
The wife of IPS officer has already been arrested along with a coaching centre faculty member.
The Union Home Ministry has also seeked a detail report from Tamil Nadu government on the hi-tech cheating by the 2015 batch probationary IPS officer Safeer Karim during UPSC mains exam on Sunday.
The Tamil Nadu cadre IPS probationary officer was caught while cheating during the UPSC mains examination at a centre in Egmore, Chennai. He was appearing in the examination to get into the IAS.
Karim, an assistant superintendent of police in Nanguneri, Tirunelveli, allegedly took a cellphone, a bluetooth-enabled miniature camera in a shirt button and wireless earpieces into the examination hall in Presidency girls higher secondary school.
Karim's wife allegedly dictated the answers to him from Hyderabad, police officials said in Chennai.
