Union minister of telecommunication Manoj Sinha has emerged as the likeliest candidate to be the next Uttar Pradesh chief minister. The BJP legislative party meeting will be held on Saturday in Lucknow where all winning 312 BJP MLAs will vote to elect the next UP CM.

While names of BJP bigwigs like Rajnath Singh and Keshav Parsad Maurya have fallen through, Manoj Sinha seems like a party favourite. Especially because Sinha has great rapport with the central leadership, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, BJP president Amit Shah and Union Minister for Home Affairs Rajnath Singh.

Belonging to the upper caste Bumihar community, Sinha impressed the Prime Minister with his performance as minister of state for railways so much, that he was given independent charge of telecommunications.
