The Income Tax department on Friday filed a prosecution complaint against former Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder Singh in connection with a foreign assets tax evasion case.
The Enforcement Directorate had in June issued summons to Amarinder’s son Raninder Singh for allegedly violating the Foreign Exchange Management Act (FEMA).
The ED had asked Raninder to explain the source of funds moved to a Switzerland bank account. However, it is not clear whether the I-T complaint against Amarinder and the ED summons to his son are related.
Amarinder had said the ED summons against his son as “fraud notice”.
